TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Chief Master Sgt. David Flosi, the new command chief for the Air Force Sustainment Center, joined the center as the current coronavirus pandemic was ramping up.
Flosi, who came to the AFSC from a tour with NATO Air Command in Afghanistan, said his role as the senior enlisted leader air advisor to the commander and the command sergeant major of the Afghan Air Force set him up for this assignment. There, he trained, advised and assisted several thousand Afghans in the operations, maintenance and sustainment of a more than 250 aircraft fleet operating throughout Afghanistan.
As command chief one of the more important concerns is for the people who work in the AFSC and Flosi is committed to ensuring people have what they need.
“My efforts are nested in the commander’s intent and his mission and vision,” Flosi said. “Along with other leaders at all levels across the center we are immediately focused on ensuring the health and safety of our teammates while we balance mission readiness and our vital supporting efforts to national security.”
Flosi wants to remind the AFSC work force how important they are to the Air Force.
“We need you to be healthy to work, and as importantly, to be there to care for your families,” he said.
He said social distancing could cause some to fall into depression and loneliness could become a problem.
“Please check in on one another and remain a positive influence for others,” the chief said. “If you or someone you know needs some help, please reach out to Mental Health, the Chaplain or Airmen and Family Readiness Center. There is help available.”
Flosi considers both Phoenix, Arizona and Kansas City home and he is a life-long Chiefs fan.
“I am excited and thankful to serve with this amazing team,” he said.
