Veterans have sacrificed so that we as a community have freedom

As a proud American citizen, I stand on the shoulders of the veterans who came before me who kept this country safe. As Veterans Day approaches, I'm reminded of what our veterans have sacrificed so that we as a community have the freedoms we enjoy.

Years of conflict have required men and women, from all walks of life, to raise their right hand and commit to serving something higher than themselves. Most of our veterans didn't join for the paycheck; they joined for the opportunity to serve their country. These men and women have sacrificed time with family and in some cases they've sacrificed their health and possibly their lives. Our veterans know, more than anyone, that war and its effects are anything but pretty.

As we move forward into this Veterans Day, please take a moment to thank a veteran. Have compassion for those that bear the scars, both visible and invisible. Show appreciation for those that answer the call, time and time again and honor those who didn't make it home.

Have a wonderful Veterans Day.

Keep 'em flying...it's what we do!

Bruce
