Col. Patrick R. Launey is the commander of the 635th Supply Chain Operations Wing, Air Force Sustainment Center, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. He is responsible for leading and directing operations for two Supply Chain Groups, a Materiel Maintenance Group, the Air Force’s Petroleum Office, Vehicle and War Reserve Materiel Global Management offices. Additionally, he leads the Basic Expeditionary Airfield Resources, or BEAR, Center of Excellence at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, ensuring Air Force BEAR-base resources are postured for worldwide deployment to support contingencies and exercises. The wing is postured at 12 direct operating locations comprised of more than 1,600 logistics professionals providing 24/7 supply-chain command and control for warfighters around the globe.
Col. Launey is a native of Metairie, Louisiana and commissioned from Mississippi State University in 1998. He possesses a broad range of logistics, planning, and strategy development experience at the wing, combined joint task force, combatant command, Headquarters Air Force and Joint Staff levels, and he has commanded at the squadron and group levels. He has performed duties with the Defense Logistics Agency and has served as an Air Force professional military education instructor as well as an embedded training team advisor with the Afghanistan National Army. Prior to his current position, Col. Launey was the Chief, Logistics Readiness Division and Logistics Readiness Officer Career Field Manager, Directorate of Logistics, Headquarters Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia.
