Environmental success
During the Oct. 16 Brownfields ceremony in Bldg. 9001, Col. Steven Bleymaier, 72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker installation commander, talks about Tinker’s continuing transformation of the old General Motors plant into a humming Air Force maintenance facility. The commander accepted a Brownfields “No Action Necessary” certificate from the state Department of Environmental Quality recognizing Tinker’s cleanup and redevelopment of the area, thereby avoiding any negative environmental actions. Seated from left are Steven Thompson, executive director, Department of Environmental Quality; Amber Perry, Environmental Protection Agency; Oklahoma County Commissioner Brian Maughan; and Gary Pence, Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce.
