Lieutenant General JENNIFER HAMMERSTEDT

Lt. Gen. Jennifer Hammerstedt is the Commander, Air Force Sustainment Center, Air Force Materiel Command, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma. As commander, she leads a global organization of approximately 40,000 Total Force Airmen. The center delivers end-to-end life-cycle sustainment and logistics for aircraft, missiles, propulsion systems, aerospace commodities and weapons system software to preserve the nation’s warfighting readiness. AFSC also manages and executes the Air Force supply chain, delivers modern software solutions through agile development, provides comprehensive installation management and projects expeditionary capabilities to the Joint Force, the nuclear enterprise, interagency operations, U.S. allies and coalition partners. The Art of the Possible mission culture enables AFSC’s world-class people to maintain a $37 billion spare parts inventory and generate $18.8 billion in annual revenue from maintenance and supply chain operations. AFSC has an economic impact of more than $24 billion.

Lt. Gen. Hammerstedt received her commission from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1996. During her career, she has led flightline maintenance and munitions operations in seven different Air Force wings. She deployed worldwide in support of Operations Northern and Southern Watch, Enduring Freedom, Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn, including two deployed squadron commands. Lt. Gen. Hammerstedt has commanded at the squadron, group and wing levels, as well as served in key staff positions on two Air Force major command staffs, as an Air Force Legislative Fellow and as a Military Assistant to the Deputy Secretary of Defense.

Prior to her current assignment, Lt. Gen. Hammerstedt served as the Director of Logistics, Engineering and Force Protection, Headquarters Air Combat Command, Joint Base Langley–Eustis, Virginia, as the senior logistician within the lead major command for Combat Air Forces.
