The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex, working together with Pratt & Whitney partners, was given the challenge of retrofitting 10 U.S. Marine Corps F135 engines in a 12-month time period in order to support USMC initial operating capability. The 10th engine was shipped to the customer on Wednesday. All retrofits were accomplished while also qualifying tools, validating and demonstrating tech data and performing unscheduled Fan Module Maintenance in support of the F-35 fleet. “I’m very proud of the team’s accomplishment and look forward to the continued success of the program and partnership,” said Kevin O’Connor, OC-ALC vice director. Retrofit Complete

Levy is responsible for operations which span three air logistics complexes, three air base wings, two supply chain management wings, and multiple remote operating locations, incorporating more than 35,000 military and civilian personnel. In addition, he oversees installation support to more than 75,000 personnel working in 140 associate units at the three AFSC bases.

Air Force Materiel Command and American Federation of Government Employees Council 214 met at Tinker Air Force Base for a Partnership Council meeting Oct. 30-31. The purpose of the Partnership Council is to foster a culture of cooperation by involving the union early in the process as a way to jointly work issues and reach solutions. The first F135 engine for the United States Marine Corps' F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter arrived at Bldg. 3001 June 23. According to base officials, Tinker will support the entire JSF program at the depot level for Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps engines. The new speedline to repair the engines will originally have 60 days to apply the upgrade to the engines and will eventually go down to a 30-day turnaround. See the story in next week’s paper.
