AFSC commander sends holiday message

Teammates,

Oftentimes we are swamped with demands of the mission or the obligations and duties at home. During those moments, it can be easy to forget how fortunate we are and how important it is to reflect on the highs and lows of the year behind us. Growth and gratitude help shape our mindset as we recharge for another year.

There are lessons learned as I look back on time as your teammate in the Air Force Sustainment Center, but an unwavering takeaway is my confidence in this team of Airmen. Among family, health and ability to serve this great nation, I am deeply grateful for each of you and your contributions to our workforce. The AFSC is the leader in sustaining weapon systems readiness, and it is because of your efforts and dedication that we are able to deliver combat power for America. That is something to be proud of and never taken for granted.

As we enter into this season of thankfulness, let us be especially mindful of those families who have someone deployed across the globe. Let us be aware of the sacrifices they are making to protect all that we hold dear - their service allows us to enjoy the fellowship of those closest to us.

Finally, let us not forget those who may be struggling, too, during this holiday season. I encourage you to be alert and help where you can. There is profound power in hope, but also in

a simple kind word (or two). May we always continue to elevate one another and keep our workforce’s strength paramount.

I am proud to be commander of this team. I wish you the happiest of Thanksgivings.

Lt. Gen. Gene Kirkland

Commander, Air Force Sustainment Center
